Finally, I forgot to add, it may suit your needs better to replace the tip of the iron with a flat (screwdriver) type bit tip, this will enable a `blob of solder to `sit` better and will transfer heat quicker due to a flat surface rather than radii thus save wastage of solder and time in heat transfer. BUT again, please always wipe the tip after each use and before switching the power off. Take care.

Please clean the tip pf your iron and regulate the temperature of the iron. As the maximum temperature employed all the time will weaken the element over time. To do this turn the small button aside the iron and set at the dial to the lowest temperature, then bring up the temperature by turning the dial until the solder melts, then add a few degrees. Please wipe the irons tip after use to keep it clean., as any flux can overheat and build up a crust. Why chop off the sleeper when there is a perfectly good gap in the sleepers to employ to connect the wire/s. Please after trimming the wire dip in the flux, one can liquefy the fl…
